One person was injured during the Friday morning departure attempt at Driggs-Reed Memorial.
Anyone know how the takeoff roll of an SF50 compares to 3850 feet at 6257 MSL? With essentially no wind and temp +11C based on DIJ METAR at the time of the accident, I’m seeing somewhere around 3000 feet with a 50-foot obstacle distance around 5000. Seems a pretty thin margin.
According to FlightAware, this airplane landed at KDIJ on 6 August, one day after the NOTAM for runway construction went into effect. I don’t know if the full runway was serviceable at the time it landed. If not, 3850’ seems awfully short for an SF50 to land. And if the pilot was aware of the runway closure, attempting a takeoff seems risky.
