Anyone know why the Army’s CID is investigating an accident like this?
Not only the Army, but all services investigate accidents so a record is available of what happened!
I guess you weren’t in the Army. The CID normally would investigate felony crimes occurring on an Army base. It seems strange that they would be investigating a helicopter accident.
I’ve heard the Echo model Apache has a new problematic transmission. Any crash will have an investigation, particularly one with fatalities. Word was this aircraft fell out of the sky suggestive of a transmission problem. It is possible it could lead to a criminal investigation and action against Boeing. It might also lead to a grounding of the fleet of this model until it is resolved. Those are on top of all the usual reasons for an accident investigation. We’ll all have to wait until the reports are issue.
