True Blue Power Launches New Main Ship Battery

Larry Anglisano, editor of The Aviation Consumer, stopped by the True Blue Power booth last week at NBAA-BACE 2024 to check out the newest offering in its line of lithium ion batteries. The Gen5 TB50 Lithium-ion Aircraft Battery is an engine start battery that delivers 50 amp-hours at half the weight of other batteries on the market. According to the product announcement, this battery also eliminates maintenance needs and cuts down on waste since it is lithium ion and not lead acid or NiCad. To learn more about the battery and other offerings from True Blue Power you can visit their website at www.mcico.com/truebluepower. The cost of Lithium has plummeted worldwide, and the future looks positive. I am ready to install a Lithium battery soon.

Aircraft starting batteries are 4x the cost of equivalent lawn tractor batteries.
I could care less for a battery that is even more expensive than the over-priced ones we have now.

Well… The connector kit is $496 so try to guess the price of the battery! I don’t think my Cessna 180K cares where the electrons come from and I certainly don’t, either. A car battery would work just fine for me.

Larry, Larry, Larry, did your mother never tell you that you should never stick your fingers into electrical sockets… I know the red light was flashing but you could have had 50 amps making your hair stand on end – on camera!
