I think the very first second it looks like the rocket will make it there, wep should put him on it. Let’s not even talk about getting it back.
Humanity will almost certainly set foot on Mars. Eventually. My guess is, we’re probably going to discover that colonization of Mars is a bad idea. Earth after the Chicxulub asteroid impact 65 mya is a far more hospitable place than Mars.
There’s a ton more great science that can be done with robots on Mars. IMHO, that’s where NASA should focus their efforts. Leave colonization of other planets to later generations.
Will Musk/SpaceX get to Mars? I don’t think Elon has the required discipline to lead such an ambitious goal to completion.
