The political pressures were glossed over. There is no mention of Congress’s role in ensuring more flights from DCA to their home districts, the very real threat of retaliation if FAA reduced flights for either carriers or military. Political pressure also looks like it factored into the NTSB not addressing that in their hearing.
Political pressure is a hazard in the aviation system that must be addressed.
All of the above are true!
I say BS. We have the same situation in NYC despite politicians at City, State and Federal levels begging for restrictions on choppers. The FAA is a bunch of criminals dressed up like civil servants.
