Joby has one of its eVTOLs on display at AirVenture and we got caught up on the program.
Did they actually fly it in?
The vehicle would be more aerodynamically efficient if it was covered by a rigid surface, say aluminum or composite. Fabric covering is probably lighter though. Designing an aircraft is full of trade-offs.

Wing and canopy covers methinks…
No the Joby was not flown in and is just a mockup. Beta did fly in their eCTOL (C for conventional) and demonstrated during a slot in the airshow. Seemed to be fairly agile.
It is unlikely any of these will regularly fly passengers.
