Maybe it can be renamed to “Jesus is Lord Airport” since you seem to believe that being Jesus is the requirement for being a president. JFK was an adulterer, should that airport be renamed? Harry Ried was a frequent liar. Should Harry Ried International be reverted back to McCarren? And if I read right before, Joe Biden and Jill Biden were in an affair when Biden’s wife died. Let’s make sure he doesn’t get anything named after him.
John Newberry: Feel free to provide specific responses to my previous post which listed several reasons why I believe Progressive policies are misguided. I’d say anyone who supports those policies are the real KoolAid drinkers. Sorry that you don’t like when someone dares to disagree with you. Luckily you aren’t the pilot in command in this situation.
“International” denotes customs service. But locally, most of the airports are now called by different names than 30 years back. Many are called by the county name, not the city name, for example. Many have two names.
While I agree his terms are a bit over the top, the whole issue is political - playing to trump’s ever growing ego, rather than renaming as an honour which is the usual route.
dbier-I’m just glad that we still have the right to speak our opinions whatever they are. You saying this isn’t the place to talk political opinions and then stating YOUR political opinion seems typical of MAGA people. I completely believe in both of your rights to speak your mind. Unfortunately Trump tries to silence anyone, with lawsuits and slander, who disagrees with him.
As I already said, I responded due to the statements/attacks from folks on your side. However, suggesting that an aviation forum is probably not the best place to get into the weeds about politics is NOT silencing anything. As for trying to silence someone for their views, have you already forgotten that social media companies admitted the Biden Administration pressured them to block people and remove content? That’s in addition to the Obama and Biden administrations weaponizing the courts and the IRS against political foes - and the cancel culture they fostered that tried to destroy people who dared disagree with Progressive views.
Baltra: I suspect we at least have that in common! However, you have apparently misunderstood me: I do NOT love Trump’s personality, In fact, many of his comments and personal attacks make me cringe. I voted for him because I support most of his policies.
If I can’t find a candidate with favorable policies AND personality - I believe policies are the deciding factor. The reality is most Presidents are narcissists - and shade the truth - they just do a better job of concealing it.
In my April 18th reply to SteveR (above), I listed several policy issues that caused me (and most of America) to vote for Trump - even with his annoying personality. It’s fine if you don’t support Trump’s policies (and prefer Biden’s Progressive policies), but hopefully we can disagree without mudslinging. Take care!
Thank you for your response. I just realized that I now agree with your post that this isn’t the best place for political discussion. I actually would enjoy debating you on the finer points of our disagreements on political policies but that would take up way too much space in this comment section! Thanks for the back and forth.
