NORAD is warning pilots to carefully check NOTAMs to avoid airspace violations.
Without any clarification, the context of the headline and the article the photo could be interpreted as a CAP airplane violating a TFR. Instead, it is a USAF/CAP exercise where the CAP plane is acting as an intercept target for the USAF.
So, this is only for ‘Freedom 250’? That is not ‘America 250’. It is ‘America 250’ that was created by Congress 10 years ago.
As @tortoise69 notes, the US government, including the military, should be participating in the non-partisan “America 250” program created by Congress for all Americans. “Freedom 250” is the partisan, Republican controlled, celebration. I thought at first your reporting was in error, but NORAD did indeed say “Freedom 250,” which is a different story on its own! (I also note NORAD’s “Contact Us” link at the bottom produces a “404 Page not found” :-/ Update: The “Contact Us” link at the top does work.)
The FAA web sites I’ve checked do say “America 250.”
