NBAA’s Q2 2026 analysis identified powerplant failures and takeoff-and-landing collisions among the leading safety concerns for turbine-powered business aviation.
Interesting that power plant failures are a concern. Between the fact that turbines are supposed to be more reliable than pistons, and that most turbine aircraft should be able to fly with engine out (well except for singles) something is not right. Are pilots not handling engine outs properly? Is maintenance lacking?
In a 22000 hour career I’ve had two engine failures. Both times on turbine equipment, both times pretty much a non-event.
