A recent survey conducted in the City of Naples and its surrounding Collier County showed overwhelming public support for the Naples Airport and strong opposition to its potential relocation.
Reasonable scrutiny considering a half dozen other cities named Naples.
Good lesson for anyone to pay attention to details and if writing for technical review to always try and avoid assumptions.
I think that’s reasonable for a small GA airport. Most FBOs close at night. They likely wouldn’t sell enough fuel to pay someone to sit there overnight.
That’s true, but that is not the reason for the fueling restriction at APF. That policy was enacted to keep jets from operating after 9:30pm due to noise restrictions. I have been at this airport many times and before this policy went into effect, late evening or night ops by jets was pretty common. As far as I know the FBO’s are still open, just are not allowed to dispense fuel after 9:30 pm.
I think context made it pretty clear that it was Naples, Florida. But then, perhaps some consideration could be given to those readers who aren’t very familiar with aviation or geography of large, southern states. Or to schoolchildren or those few semi-literate pilots.
