Powrachute requests temporary certification relief while awaiting acceptance of a corrected ASTM standard.
I was surprised to learn (from the Aircraft Spruce “Sport Pilot Encyclopedia”) that flexible wing powered parachutes have about the same overall safety record as fixed wing sport aircraft… although they ARE more susceptible to problems when encountering turbulent or windy conditions.
