Checklists don’t do any good if you don’t follow them. That’s as true for maintainers as it is for flight crews.
Wouldn’t there be an interlock on the landing gear lever operation when the aircraft in on the ground (such as suspension compression indicating that the weight of the aircraft is on the undercarriage)? This is a very technological aircraft.
