Only a few think fast tracking supersonic flight approvals is a bad idea.

Rus,
Generally, I love your reporting, but this tagline puzzles me a bit; " Only a few think fast tracking supersonic flight approvals is a bad idea." Adding up the “Bad Idea” and “What’s the rush?” groups appears to give a majority opposing fast-tracking this idea. Btw, I’m purely functional about this. If supersonic can be deployed without undue annoyance or risk, then so be it.

I remember back in the 1970s, when supersonic flight over land was banned. I was surprised by sonic booms were not that loud from supersonic craft up at 45,000 feet or higher. So, it is probably good to get rid of this supersonic flight ban over land. Environmentalists out of control, is the only reasonable explanation for the ban on supersonic flight. Ask any big city person, one can get used to any repetitive noise when the noise happens regular; usually because it is the same or similar pitch and one knows what the noise is. Even soft noises where I have not heard the pitch before will wake me up out of a sound sleep. But, where I know the pitch, I usually sleep through the noise. Benefits of middle age.
