Jet Blast Overturns Hangar - AVweb

A hangar was destroyed and light aircraft were damaged at San Luis Obispo by the jet blast from an American Eagle CRJ on Friday. The airline was testing an engine on the aircraft and it worked well enough to flip at least one partially dismantled and parked Cessna and turn over a hangar on the general aviation ramp. Some aircraft in the hangar were damaged and other structures were damaged according to KSBY News. There were no injuries.

Is this the act of an inexperienced AMT and/or pilot making maintenance tests for full power? Somebody didn’t do his/her job with the maintenance checklist like ensuring prop or jet blast are cleared before full power is applied.

Just WHERE was the humor here - as the idiot photoing this was laughing!! Ughh

Is this why most airports have building codes?

I would guess this is Maint. personnel with 0 GA experience. Looks like American eagle gets to build a new hanger in there off time.

I agree, Bob. This video (which could be used as a learning tool on pilots/mechanics being more aware of their surroundings) is totally ruined by the self-absorbed dufus who’s so proud of himself for capturing a YouTube-worthy video. A sign of the times, I guess.
