A flight attendant was grazed by a bullet when a Spirit Airlines A320 was hit by gunfire as it was about to land at Port-au-Prince Toussaint Louverture Airport in Haiti Monday morning. The flight originated in Fort Lauderdale and multiple bullets pierced the fuselage. It's not clear where the flight attendant was hit but the injuries were reportedly minor. No passengers were hit.
Several years ago my wife and I and middle daughter volunteered at a clinic in Jeremie. MAF pilots were wonderful for transportation to and from Port-au Prince. Fast-Doc is correct: so many people want to help but the domestic terrorists chase them away. Time to send in the Marines again.
People from the Victoria BC area stopped visiting Haiti to help orphanages when the orphages advised of high risk to whiteys who are assumed to have money. (And may have had, though I hope banking helped them get money from Canada to the orphanages.)
Should just fly into the DR, assuming border crossing is feasible (evil people were hitting Haitians from the DR at one time, DR tried to stop that).
