Toronto-based Porter Airlines has placed a firm order for 30 Embraer E195-E2 passenger jets with options for an additional 50 aircraft. Porter, the North American launch customer for the E195-E2, is expected to begin taking deliveries in the second half of 2022. The deal is worth an estimated $5.82 billion.

Getting into North America at least.

Instead of A220s built in Montreal?

Long rumoured deal, probably dependent on firming airline’s plans for expansion outside of Toronto Island airport.

Porter announced that they would expand their operations to CYYZ (Pearson, Toronto) and begin to fly to west coast and Caribbean destinations.
They are planning on keeping their CYTZ (Billy Bishop Toronto Island) base and continue to use their Q400 fleet.
They do a great job out of the downtown airport, marketing to a much younger demo than any of the other airlines. Not unusual to see folks walking to the airport from their downtown condos.
They provide excellent service, with a (nearly) first class lounge and full beverage service on board. Sometimes they will even feed the pax!
My choice for flights to New York, Boston and DC, no long waits and one time service. I never get to the airport more than 45 minutes prior to the flight and always have time for a free beer in the lounge.
