Electric aviation motor developer magniX has unveiled a helicopter motor that mimics the operation of a turbine engine. The HeliStorm motor, introduced at Verticon in Dallas, spins at 6,000 to 7,000 rpm and makes 330 kW of power, equivalent to about 450 horsepower and weighs about 180 pounds. The motor is powered by magniX's Samson batteries. Low-RPM magniX motors are flying in several airplanes, including a 70-year-old Beaver on floats. MagniX says helicopter power is a natural extension of its business. The first installation may be in Robinson R44 helicopters.
Weight is crucial to helicopters even more so than airplanes, that’s why turbine engines became popular.
Will the EH/EA push fade with Trump’s action against climate catastrophism, and actions of the hopefully future PM of Canada (Pierre Poilievre, the next PM at least for a few weeks is a rapid ‘earth is burning’ type - Mark Carney).
If the current EPA is successful in cancelling the ‘CO2 endangerment Finding’, the CO2 crisis will be over, and we can happily continue using oil, nat gas and gasoline, JetA and diesel…!!!
Coal may then be usable again, with scrubbing all the nasty emissions.
So commenting in a highly encouraging and postive- spirited manner, that this environmentally friendly electric motor will help to offset our various CO2 catastrophies, is flagged as off-topic?
