AOPA Leadership Transition Enters Second Week

Board details next steps as former CEO comments publicly on developments.

The real reason? Pleasance wouldn’t go along with the bull and hypocrisy surrounding EAGLE, and was going to tell it like it is about the huge money grab and back room dealing around the “contenders”. And no, GAMI is not a contender because they’ve been pushed out and sidelined by those same folks. Pleasance wouldn’t have it (because, integrity) and the powers that be knew it. So he’s out on his ear with a sweet golden handshake and an NDA.

Real facts: AOPA is pushing the line that whatever EAGLE/PAFI comes up with has to be drop-in compatible - but the truth (documented by their own manufacturers) is that the the “contenders” products require an ignition timing change. Now, all you actual pilots out there, tell me how you’re going to go XC to airport A, fill up with 100ll, then fly on to airport B and fill up with the “contenders” product (oh, and change your timing), then continue to airport C and fill with 100ll again ( and change your timing back…?) Well, you won’t of course. So why hasn’t EAGLE and especially AOPA said anything or better yet crying foul and kicking and screaming? Simple: Follow the money. And then look at who is on the AOPA board. Oh, and look at the PAFI board and especially at the ASTM board at the same time.

Good luck to you Mr. Pleasance. I hope you find a way around your NDA - or maybe you won’t have to if the AOPA membership, and pilots at large, start kicking and screaming themselves to bring this to light, kick the board in the butt (or out of/as necessary) to clean up their act and their mess, clean up EAGLE, and get them to tell the truth, and advocate for a real, available fuel solution - with integrity, like someone we know tried to do.
