Yes, two times.
Once as a new Flight Instructor - Engine failure on a PA-28-140, during a night checkout for a Student Pilot. Glided to the airport and landed downwind. ATC was marvelous.
Second, while conducting an ATP AMEL flight test, while an FAA Aviation Safety Inspector. Massive engine failure on a Ce-421, leaving holes in the left engine cowling. We were conducting an Instrument Approach to a satellite airport. Successful landing at KMSP, with excellent help from ATC.
Squawked 7600 once, while talking to SoCal above LAX. ATC figured out I could hear but not talk, otherwise, it was a total nonevent. Continued that way to SAN with relays and every controller knowing what to do. I was impressed.
