The blog comments are a bar fight, with Elon Musk stirring things up as always. Some call him a visionary, others say he’s out of his depth, and the arguments roll on. Love him or hate him, Musk has changed industries, pushed boundaries, and inspired many—though his bold moves and polarizing ways ensure he’ll never please everyone.
We’re still working on it. What should we do to make it better? Topics like this always make it go sideways, although those whose opinions go against the general grain seem to blame the forum itself:)
Trust me, Elon doesn’t know any more about war than you or any other casual observer. He just has a platform to spread his ignorance and millions of lapdogs to amplify it. Also, he’s not an engineer of any kind.
F-35 is the best fighter jet ever built, bar none. It will still be flying after you and I are gone.
It sounds wonderful, but if your enemy can attack your link from your control center to the unmanned aircraft, then you’re in a real bit of trouble. So think that through before subscribing to a Pollyannaish version of aerial combat.
The AI knows the mission too and can take over. Attack the last known target and return to base. If it’s just a patrol, exit the area of interference, report and download a new target package.
Even if that doesn’t happen the drone crashes and the pilot still goes home to kiss his wife and pet his dog. No one shows up in dress blues to inform her she’s now a widow and her nation thanks her.
You’re disrespectful and lost all credibility referring to President Trump as “tRump”. In addition you did the same to Elon Musk referring to him as
“Elmo”. Go build something. Go start a business and succeed. Even if you just make an honest living from it. That is more impressive than licking your
boss’s boots, this only applies if you have a job at all? See here, this is what you lack, its respect for yourself and what you do in this great country which makes you feel worthy of being here at all. You simply do not feel worthy and that my friend is a self inflicted punishment. Your type of commenting is not welcome here. Also I doubt your kind of attitude is welcome anywhere in this country going forward. That program is over and shortly the channel will be off the air…
You’re confusing “arrogance” for confidence.
Elon Musk is very confident and also very humble.
It’s also rare in a man like him, because you see what you get.
He is not an actor, he is a doer.
It will still be flying after you and I are gone.
Yes, by the Commemorative Air Force.
All great systems have checks and balances. Thank God for Musk and the others willing to challenge the Pentagon.
So how much would you save if you delete the pilot and life support apparatus from the F35? How much would you have to add back to cost for the autonomous and remote control capabilities that would have to be added in. Include costs for research, development, testing, modifying the production line, and training the armchair based operators.
Musk has no expertise in this area. He is not an engineer, nor does he have relevant experience. He is an entrepreneur who hires experts to do successful things, some of them anyway. He has no position in the US Government, and is just a guy with an opinion.
We will, thank you very much!
For those who are without bias e.g., paradigm, let them speak first. . . Ignorance is bliss. Pursue and enjoy your bliss, may you experience euphoria ad nauseam.
For those with portfolio proceed with your solutions.
Like it’s been good for four years? Give me a break.
