While the future of AAM may be uncertain in this country, I see a definite niche for them in several third world nations and highly congested countries like China and India. Perhaps not as a commercial service at first, but for wealthy individuals who value their time and have the resources to purchase the vehicle and install the charge station on their own property. Any place where the roads are in poor condition or always packed, or aren’t exactly safe at night, flying above the masses has a real attraction. And for private use, one does not need a lot of land to operate the vehicle. Noise is not much of an issue if you only use it once or twice a day for just a few moments taking off or landing. While not exactly silent, they are quieter than a turbine powered helicopter and should be much easier to automate, so no pilot expertise is needed for the well-heeled owner. Whether there is enough of a demand to support any scale of production remains to be seen, but perhaps enough to keep them building while the issue of battery power and other technical issues are worked out for mass use.
