Effective March 1, France will charge much higher Air Passenger Transport Tax rates for commercial business jet charter operators. Private aircraft owners will not be directly affected, but the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) fears the precipitous rise in per-passenger taxes will cripple commercial charter flying, which would have a knock-on impact on all general aviation as support facilities such as fuel suppliers, FBOs and other support providers will face cutbacks.
uhhhhh…5500 klicks is closer to 3,000 NM, not 4800. I was also a bit shocked that the French didn’t seem to be trying to greenwash the justification for grabbing a lot more money.
They are the only ones who dont have to pay from their own pocket. I love the way they estimate the income from current figures, scary people. Europe is still heading down the path of self destruction. I envy the US but am glad for you all.
Probably the government of France has a very different view of the world and how things should be run.
as for economic health the following data show that the long term EU vs US growth rate is very comparable. WITH low cost given, ment paid health care free universities, and yes a VERY progressive tax rate.
THE US model has its flaws as does the EU model. it is probably that France wishes to continue the long term flattening of the wealth gap.
If you think these levels of taxation will make one iota of difference you simply don’t undrstand how the mega-wealth operate. They reach a point where they simply don’t care what things cost, they just want convenience and luxury… I’m not super-wealthy (or indeed ordinarily wealthy) but I do have some small understaning of this world. It’s just totally different from normal people in every way.
I’m not normal either. I fully see and understand your position and you are completely right in every aspect. Very few people see and understand the obvious. I do as you do.
No, the “super wealthy” do not pay.
The super wealthy have the means to re-register, hide, or simply get exceptions.
At those levels it’s far less expensive to pay a politician than to pay taxes.
