I love those two stories, and this column, in a very small part, was an attempt to make them practical and real. kg

If taught by a competent instructor fully proficient in spins, I agree. My objection to spin training was specifically as a required element for the private pilot (which is what I assumed the poster that I responded to meant).

My basic training was on the DeHavilland Tiger Moth, way back. Had to fly it every inch of the way, and the training served me well through my General Aviation life. Would also suggest basic aerobatics, just to be comfortable with unusual attitudes and G forces.
