Actually, this raffle thing is an intriguing idea. Imagine if Government were to arrange to receive a cut from a hugely publicized, ongoing lottery., using the proceeds to pay down debt and contribute to funding cost of operations. The occasional 9-figure jackpot would keep players’ interest soaring, considerably ramping up the total revvenue. That, plus the ability to immediately put the tax bite on the jackpot winner, would have Government in a financially good place in no time. But it would take some forward thinking to pull something like this off… wait, what’s that you say??..
