Who wants this technology? Flight without a pilot? What’s the point? Sounds like an autonomous Tesla crash in the making. And designed by people from Silicon Valley? No thanks. This sure looks like the next Terror Fugia or Icon A5 belly-flop, developed with investor money and sold with copious amounts of left-coast hype. It does price though the old saying remains true: a sucker is born every day.
Well, my personal opinion is that this makes the FAA and Mr. Lawrence look bad. For a high-ranking FAA official to step into a company working on similar issues as he did with the FAA just smells bad. I am not accusing anyone of any malice, but it sure looks inappropriate. In general, DoD officials have a waiting period, but I don’t think that applies to the FAA. IMHO, it should. Best, Vince
