The demographic of the average light aircraft owner/pilot is biased towards folks who have owned their airplanes for many years and have the retirement income to support their hobby in ways younger people can’t or prefer not to. I’m not sure there’s a causation between pilot age and accidents, but they’re about the only ones flying light GA ( outside of the recent surge in flight training) so they are the ones most likely to have accidents, which the evidence supports.
