Great article from a pilot/mechanic with experience in the matter. I was just searching for a twin to help out our local FBO and small airfield here in western Wisconsin. I seem to have morphed into the local aviation tribe chief mechanic and fortune teller…There may be a need at our small airfield for a twin for charter and some flight instruction also. I am a retired airline pilot who gained the coveted A&P just before I retired in 2013. I have since been granted the Inspection Authorization IA. I have several times over stated that the study and effort needed and applied to gain the A&P was every bit as much or more as was needed for my flying ratings…I am proud of my A&P certificate and it is displayed prominently at my shop hangar. I printed off this article to show the guys and let them think it over…I can and may go in 30 or 40 % on a twin and do maintenance (have rigged a Bonanza gear or two) and overhauled a continental or two but cost of keeping two girls, (a’hem engines) running sweet is sure asking a’lot…
