Landing on anything soft (either sand or water) means that your body will have to deal with a very high G deceleration. Best strategy for survival is to be physically fit… and 23 years old.

I would think landing on anything soft would also mean smooth, which means slow deceleration. At least til it slows and digs in which is better than happening at touchdown. Physics and age, can’t change either.

Don’t forget the sunscreen!
I can’t imagine not trying for a full-stall touch-down attitude. The water just off the beach ought to give plenty of altitude reference.
