I was living nearby on Monterey Bay and heard of the accident within minutes of it happening. I continue to be a big fan of John Denver’s incredible musical talents. Everyone mourns his death and assume that I am not alone in wishing that he had received more training and familiarization with the aircraft or had gained more altitude before attempting the fuel selector change. Perhaps we all fly with more safety margins after studying the extensive information provided by Avweb.
