An old, old joke–but always good. Here’s another example from the early 1960s, with a different personality:

When a journalist innocently asked Pope John XXIII, “Your Holiness, how many people work in the Vatican?” He replied, “About half of them.”

Reminds me of a group of monks in eastern Iowa who were hardworking.

They operated a ‘woodlot’ (tree farm) growing specialty woods.
But they were aging.

So they switched to using the wood to make coffins (indoors, less strenuous).

(You want wild religious, the town of Holy Cross in eastern IA can be found by looking for the tall steeple on the church.
I understand the raised alter is a sight to behold including for the woods used in it. But was closed for work when I drove through the area.)
