Maybe big George will address why he’s so adamant about not working with ASTM to develop a standardized testing process that would eliminate all the controversy.
1 replyBraly talks about fuel seepage, which some are blaming on the new fuel.
Braly points out that old sealant is failing with 100LL
My 1960 aircraft started a weep a few years back on 100LL fuel.
Turns out, just as Braly points out, the original sealant breaks down.
We replaced components and sealant; problem gone.
Please bring the GAMI fuel into full use!
Looking forward to using it as a better product; less wear, less problems.
In spite of the significant, shall we say, attacks, George remains a reasonable sounding fellow. I believe him and I wish I could buy his fuel now.
Not legal for me to buy his fuel, and one of his previous responses on Avweb was a giant F.U. to the entire rotorcraft industry. Braly wants to claim his process is too secret, and he’s a rebel that can’t be bothered to follow ASTM or other consensus rules. I’m so revolted by the “rules weren’t made for me” attitude that pervades this moment in our history.
2 repliesWhich response was that, because I don’t recall such a response.
But ASTM is not a consensus rules body. They are a standards body. And one that consists of companies who have much to lose from a new 100-octane unleaded fuel that they did not come up with themselves. The rules body that is relevant here is the FAA, and the FAA offers two paths for a new fuel. If they wanted to require ASTM testing, they shouldn’t have offered the STC route.
Objection!
Read GAMI’s web site about holes in and inappropriate parts of the standard.
Ask why Swift Fuels is also taking the STC path.
Get facts right!
How long should GAMI wait for ASTM to work? Swift Fuels decided not to wait - it is going the STC route as well.
Why are you bashing Braley instead of checking facts?
