They’d probably have more luck if they laid down a magenta smoke trail.

I would like to see better reporting on this, especially from Avweb. You guys are capable of getting better information than I am, and I’m calling this sensationalism based on what I’ve seen.
“…to get the attention of a GA pilot who busted the TFR over President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort last Friday.”
“NORAD said it’s had “over 20 tracks of interest” over Palm Beach since Trump took office on Jan. 20.”

Roll back the ADS-B replay for that massive 30nmi TFR area on any given weekend and you’ll see no GA aircraft came close to Mar-a-Lago or even Palm Beach, unless you define “Palm Beach” (the small, ultra-rich oceanfront town where Mar-a-Lago is) as “anywhere in Palm Beach County”. These TFR busts that have been happening have mostly been on the edges of the 30nmi radius, which shuts down GA at LNA, F45, BCT, FD08, FA44, FD38, FD15, 06FA, and X58 every weekend and extends almost as far west as Lake Okeechobee. If you’re in Palm Beach County you hear the military jets occasionally during the TFRs, and when I hear one I hop on ADS-B exchange to see if I can see anything. I’ve seen a few GA aircraft within the radius, and I’ve rolled back the replay to see if anything interesting happened on the few TFR busts the media has reported on, and so far none of them were even close to Palm Beach or Mar-a-Lago let alone “over Palm Beach”. I don’t think any of them have even been within 8nmi of it. The most notable TFR bust I think we’ve had was someone taking off from an aviation community which is about 12nmi from TFR center and immediately being intercepted by an F16, which orbited the strip for some time, and then a helicopter. That was back in the middle of February.

NOTAMS, we don’t need no stinking NOTAMS.

Avoiding TFRs and other airspace is so easy now it almost defies explanation how this happens.
Here’s the checklist

  1. Put ForeFlight on your phone or IPad
  2. Don’t fly into the big, red , round areas

That’s it!

And monitor 121.5 (“Guard”). That will save you from being headbutted even if you screw up the rest.

Track of Interest. sound like person of interest. ie a person who we think might be somewhat related to what might be a crime that may have been included. (Ie how to sound and look important when in reality it is not important and you have nothing to say).
