Bad luck on losing it. Good work by the Navy to recover it so quickly.

QUICKLY? 27 days - hummm
This is an amazing salvage story. Who knew? 9,500 feet deep, wow! Have not heard much about such deep sea salvage since the Glomar Explorer incident with the Russian sub decades ago. Progress.
27 days or not, the recovery of that plane almost 2 miles underwater is simply amazing.
Any word on the F-35 which was dropped off an aircraft carrier in the western Pacific a couple of months back?
1 replyThey did announce that the recovery was “in progress”, but I cannot find the results.
It will certainly never fly again, but maybe not go to the boneyard either. It could prove valuable as a corrosion research tool.
My question is, “How did it get blown over the side”? Why wasn’t it chained down to the deck? Sounds like poor performance by the Deck Crew. Just like the trashed helicopters at Norfolk a few weeks back. Someone’s career would have suffered greatly, had this stuff happened “back in the day”.
