Air piracy is alive and well.

Assuming the report and reporter are to be believed then your post is untrue. The aircraft was legally seized.

Yup! The U.S. government legally seized Nicolás Maduro’s Falcon 900EX for violating U.S. sanctions. The seizure is supported by export control laws and targets all involved, including Maduro, his associates, the shell company, and the U.S. seller. Very interesting!

Awkwardly stated.

‘Air Force One’ is a flight number not an aircraft.
That fight number is used when POTUS is on board.

Should instead say ‘used as transport for president’.

'Tis interesting gyrations to evade US sanctions.
And interesting as the airplane is French made, but the violation was that it was sold to Maduro by a US person and left the US.

When the story of the sketchy sanctions-dodging title transfer came out a while back my first thought had been “that’s sort of silly, where’s he planning to fly it?”

In response, Maduro might retaliate by kicking out U.S. diplomats, taking over U.S. businesses in Venezuela, or teaming up with Russia or China to push back. Not the end of the saga.

Seems like the best thing to do would be to prosecute the unnamed South Florida company that brokered the deal.

Same thought, plus how is he getting home? Presumably he was on the jet and therefore in the Dominican Republic, so last minute airline tickets home? Can you imagine having that guy plunk down beside you in the middle seat? For sure a battle for the armrest.

I read the article as, “Agents of the US boarded the aircraft on the ramp at some airport in the Dominican Republic and flew it to Ft. Lauderdale.” There was no indication that Maduro or any of his cronies were aboard. If nothing else, the international diplomatic repercussions of abducting the leader of a foreign country would be quite serious, no matter how much of a pariah he was.

It sounds to me that the jet was not properly secured in the DR, and the US took advantage of that and landed a “counting coup”. Probably not enough to really hurt him, or to make a decent made-for-TV movie, but just enough to make him think twice about his behavior. But probably not.

According to international sanctions due to the extrajudicial murders the leadership of this country have all been targeted for sanctions by the U.S. the EU and other nations.

Far from piracy this is the application of international law against a filthy regime.

Refer to some information

“McHale’s Navy” Sounds like an alternate plot in the movie to me.
