Greetings:
I have been asked if this is the B-17 that was destroyed at BDL. It is not. It is the EAAs “Aluminum Overcast”. Less than a week after I took this picture and submitted this we all learned of the tragedy at BDL. My heart and prayers go out the the folks involved with Nine-O-Nine.
Let us hope Collings may get the support to continue operation, and not suffer the total ban for passenger carrying, like the remaining ‘Tante Jus’ in Europe.
While I believe in these flights. Collins needs to restore the trust those of us have in the value of historic flights and Collins stewardship of that trust. They need to be totally transparent on their training and maintenance schedules and have a 3d party audit of these schedules with published conclusions and corrective actions. This is a high standard but when you are asking folks to completely trust you with the welfare of themselves or their loved ones no less a standard is acceptable.
“Living History” may be a misnomer.
